Psychosocial safety training

Integrated approach to Mentally healthy workplaces
​Australian work health and safety legislation requires that employers take all reasonable steps to provide safe working environments, including psychological health. This workshop covers the full spectrum of what a mentally healthy workplace looks like, including:

the promotion of workplace practices that support positive mental health

the risk management of psychosocial hazards at work, and
-
how to intervene early to signs of distress, as well as supporting the recovery of workers returning after a physical or psychological injury.

A focus on prevention
For Managers and Supervisors
Focussing on prevention, this training provides participants with foundational skills to identify, assess and manage risks to psychological health and safety in the workplace. It is designed to enhance confidence of managers and supervisors to manage work-related psychosocial hazards and understand their legal duties relevant to psychological health and safety. Participants will learn to use the risk management approach for psychological health and safety.
Session Length: 2 or 4 hours

For Executive Leadership
As above, but with an increased focus on the legislative duties of officers, the critical importance of leaders in psychosocial safety, how to build trust and model appropriate behaviour in the workplace and how to manage risk when the boundaries between work and personal blur.

This training takes a deep dive into psychosocial hazards at work, and what they may look like in your workplace or industry. This training can be tailored to cover all psychosocial hazards contained within the legislation, or can take a closer look at those that might present as a higher risk in your workplace. Psychosocial risk management: A 'How to' workshop
This training assists workplaces in the implementation of best-practice risk management for psychosocial hazards in the workplace. Participants will learn how to apply the risk management process, including how to identify hazards, when and how to do a risk assessment (utilising the tool of your choice), how to control identified hazards and how to maintain and review chosen control measures.

Action planning session
An action plan consolidates information from your psychosocial risk assessment and/or focus groups to guide future actions addressing psychosocial hazards in your workplace. The aim of action planning is to establish interventions or ‘controls’ that ensure that workers are protected from risks to their psychological health and safety. These sessions will help staff prioritise identified hazards, focus on a desired end state and agree on necessary steps and resources to achieve their goals.

Mental health in the workplace
The training is designed to provide participants with increased understanding of their responsibilities regarding mental health at work, how to identify and respond to individuals in distress and how to protect their own mental health and that of their co-workers.
